Chris Getz is on hand to watch
his number retired at GP South

One of Grosse Pointe South's most distinguished athletes came back to his alma mater Friday (Jan. 22) to watch the school retire his No. 11 jersey at halftime during the boys' basketball game against North. Chris Getz, who will play for the Kansas City Royals this year, still holds numerous South school records for baseball, and also lettered in football and golf. His college career was equally distinguished. Getz played in five seasons for the Chicago White Sox organization before being traded last fall.
