Grosse Pointe South rower Chrumka
makes it official, opts for Stanford

Grosse Pointe South High School senior rowing phenomenon Alix Chrumka officially signed with Stanford University this week, capping a recruiting drive that had her courted by schools from coast to coast, including the Ivy League and the Universities of Michigan and Virginia. Chrumka chose Stanford not only for its nationally competitive rowing program, but also for its strength in her chosen academic field of biomedical research. Standing behind her as she makes it official are, from left to right, Detroit Boat Club coaches Brennan Brophy and George Sleator, her father Mike Chrumka, and South Athletic Director Jeremy Hawkins.
