Little Caesars 10U travel team
lays waste to Big Bat Bash Tournament

Little Caesar’s 10U – Detroit travel baseball team out-hit, out-pitched and outplayed the competition and earned its first championship in only its first month of existence at the Big Bat Bash Tournament in Commerce Township Aug. 13-15.

Losing only one game in the tournament, the team stormed back from a six-run deficit in the final game against D.O. Allen Park to win 13-12 and capture the championship.

Strong hitting marked the weekend as the team scored 75 runs in four games. In the championship game, strong pitching was crucial. Starting pitching from David Toth, solid middle relief from Patrick Bourke and a shut down by closer David Scupholm led the team to victory.

A game changing two-out, two-strike single from Max Carrier drove in two runs.

Starting Aug. 21, the team will be competing against travel teams from around Metro Detroit in the Fall Baseball League in Canton. The team is based in Grosse Pointe.
