Bledsoe to host a forum Monday
on Canadian wind farm on Lake St. Clair

State Rep. Tim Bledsoe invites the public to a community forum Monday (May 3) starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial to discuss a proposed wind farm set for the Canadian waters of Lake St. Clair, as well as its possible effects on the Grosse Pointes.

Bledsoe will speak, along with Eric Sharp, outdoor writer for the Detroit Free Press; Nick Schroeck, Wayne State professor and director of the Environmental Law Center; a wind-energy expert from the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth, and James Clift from the Michigan Environmental Council and a member of the Great Lakes Wind Council.

The Lake St. Clair project is a development of SouthPoint Wind of Leamington, Ont. The company plans for a massive, 715-turbine wind farm in Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair, but no permits have been issued yet, according to the Windsor Star. A draft description of the project is posted on the company's website.
