Farms council denies solicitation
in 30-minute August meeting

The city council of Grosse Pointe Farms held a short but sweet meeting Monday night (Aug. 16), with seven agenda items that were handled in just 30 minutes.

The council denied a door-to-door solicitation request by a local business owner. City Manager Shane Reeside commented that for-profit door-to-door solicitations would not be in the best interest of the city and there would be no way to regulate it once approved.

The council also paid its attorney fees and approved a bid for a three-year yard-waste disposal contract with Indian Summer Recycling.

There was also a custodial agreement approved with Multi-Bank Securities Inc. and Pershing LLC to regulate bank transactions.

The next council meeting will be Sept. 13.
