Banker's whereabouts still unknown;
search goes on in Macomb County

The search continues for Community Central Bank President David Widlak, 62, of Grosse Pointe Farms.

Police and more than 70 volunteers scoured the area of downtown Mt. Clemens and along the Clinton River yesterday looking for Widlak. Widlak’s wife, Anne Widlak, made a statement but did not answer any questions.

“We’re looking for public support in helping to find Dave. Dave, if you’re hearing this please come home,” she said.

Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel said Widlak, who was last seen at the bank Sunday afternoon, disappeared that same evening. According to police, bank surveillance shows Widlak at the bank Sunday afternoon with a guest, whose identity has not yet been released to the public but has been cooperating with police during the investigation. Widlak was later seen leaving the bank through the back door, opposite where his vehicle was parked, heading into residential neighborhoods of Mt. Clemens.

Hackel said a gun registered to Widlak that he kept in his office was recovered, but a second gun registered to him is still missing.

“We’re looking at every angle. We haven’t ruled out foul play and there’s also the possibility that he grew frustrated and took off,” Hackel said.

The janitor at the bank said he noticed Widlack’s vehicle in the parking lot Monday morning and went into his office to say hi when he noticed everything in “disarray” and immediately called 911.
