Christ Church Grosse Pointe offers
'Praying in Color' spiritual workshop

The Christ Church Spirituality Center presents a workshop called "Praying in Color" Oct. 22, from 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Christ Church Grosse Pointe.

"Praying in Color" is an active and meditative prayer practice for the word-weary and fidgety pray-er, as well as those who are already launched on a path to prayer. It is both a process and a product. The process uses pen, paper, and markers to invite the body and mind into a time of stillness and listening. The product is a prayer drawing or icon – a visual reminder to continue to pray throughout the day. Through playful and contemplative exercises, participants learn this versatile practice appropriate for use with both children and adults. Absolutely no artistic ability is necessary.

Sybil MacBeth, a self-described “doodler, dancer and math professor,” facilitates the workshop. Her 2007 book, "Praying in Color – Drawing a New Path to God" has been translated into Spanish, Korean and other languages.

Everyone is welcome. The cost for the workshop is $45 per person and includes lunch (or $40 registration without lunch). Group rates are available, as well as scholarship help. Registration deadline is Monday, Oct. 17; call the Spirituality Center office at 313.885.4841/ext. 113.
