Young artists get their very own glass canvas in the annual Paint the Windows contest, set for May 8 in the Village.

Spring is here, and it's time
to Paint the Windows in the City

The Grosse Pointe Village Association presents the 24th annual Paint the Window Contest May 8 (Saturday) from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event is open to all Grosse Pointe children, grades K-5. Nearly 300 student artists will test their skills in this popular event that gives them the opportunity to create their own masterpieces on Village merchants’ storefront windows. The contest takes place in the Village, along Kercheval Avenue between Cadieux and Neff.

The theme for 2010 is “Movie Mania” and judges will award prizes to each grade level for the best interpretation of the theme based on composition, proportion, color use and originality. The award ceremony takes place on The Village Festival Plaza at 5:00 p.m. The Festival Plaza is located at the corner of Kercheval and St. Clair. The paintings will remain on store windows for public viewing until May 13th.

For more information, contact John Denomme at 313-886-7474 or Ellen Durand at 313-881-1381. Photos of the event will be accessible on the Village website after May 16th.
