George Bay's "Cry and Rejoice" won first prize in the Grosse Pointe Artists Association's annual exhibit, "Our Rivers, Our Lakes."

‘Our Rivers, Our Lakes’ exhibition
honors best of 80 entries

The Grosse Pointe Artists Association’s annual exhibition, "Our Rivers, Our Lakes," runs through September 26 at the Grosse Pointe Art Center, 16900 Kercheval in the Village. Juror John Corbin selected seven award winners from the 80 entries. An opening wine and cheese reception was held Aug. 20.
 
First prize went to George Bay for "Cry and Rejoice," multimedia on wood, a decorated paddle. Kathleen McNamee took second place with a watercolor, "Harbor Beach, Edison Plant." Third place went to Melissa Jones for an oil painting, "When the Birds are Gone."
 
Special honorable mentions were awarded to Rosemary Bay for a stoneware mosaic, "Gone Fishing;" Barbara Carr, for "Babbling Brook," acrylic; and David Mikesell, for "Battle for the Last Fresh Water in America," mixed media.
 
A special award was given to Jack Frakes for "Heron & Porcupine," clay and metal.
 
The exhibition is open to the public Tuesdays through Thursdays from noon to 5 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information about the Grosse Pointe Artists Association or the "Our Rivers, Our Lakes" exhibit, go to their website
