Weekend dog walks in Shores, Park
will benefit local animal causes

Animal lovers will have two opportunities to help their friends this weekend.

On Saturday (June 6), Paws in the Park will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and benefit the Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society. Held in Windmill Pointe Park, the event will include music, a costume contest, police K-9 training demonstrations and other activities. A special treat for dogs will be a walk up and down the length of the Windmill Pointe Drive median.

The entry fee is $25, with $5 for additional dogs, and the pet parade requires preregistration. Call 313-884-1551. All dogs must be leashed.

The next day, the Mutt March will take place at the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House, 1100 Lake Shore Road in the Shores. This event, held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., will benefit the Michigan Humane Society. Preregistered dogs can participate if their vaccination records are current.  There is no fee to be in the march, but participants are encouraged to solicit donations.

Details, including donation forms and other materials, are available at the Michigan Humane Society website.
