Christ Church, Grosse Pointe plans
Evensong and Celtic services

Christ Church Grosse Pointe has a number of special services and music programs planned for this fall. Services of Evensong are planned for Oct. 3 at 4:30 pm featuring the Christ Church Choir of Men and Boys and on Oct. 17 with the Christ Church Girl Choristers. The special services are free and open to the public.

The service of Evensong (or sung Evening Prayer) is drawn almost entirely from the Bible: Psalms, lessons from the Old and New Testaments, and Canticles (songs of praise from the Scriptures). Music is an integral part of this service, and the choirs offer sung prayers to God on behalf of the people of God.

On Oct. 10, the church presents a Celtic worship service. The heart-stirring music and rich contemplation of Celtic worship have increasing appeal in today’s stress-filled world. These afternoon services of traditional Celtic music and liturgy drawn from ancient communities such as Iona and Lindisfarne are designed to inspire and renew our spirits. The service is free and open to the public.

Additional Celtic worship services will be offered this year on Nov. 14, and in 2011 on Feb. 13, March 13, April 10, and May 8. All services begin at 4:30 pm.

Christ Church Grosse Pointe is located at 61 Grosse Pointe Blvd., next to Grosse Pointe South High School. More information is available at the church website or by calling the office at 313.885.4841.
