War Memorial offers new class
for incoming kindergarteners

It's a new place filled with new people and no mommy and daddy. For many youngsters, kindergarten seems a most imposing place.

To help boys and girls ages 4-5 get over their concerns and help them make the big transition, the Grosse Pointe War Memorial presents Get Ready for Kindergarten Camp. The new program will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 9-13 at the War Memorial.

The class is timely because Grosse Pointe public schools will be offering all-day kindergarten starting in the fall.

Led by an instructor from Girls Empowered, the program is designed to help young children enter this exciting time with confidence. Youngsters will prepare for new adventures with activities that teach them how to make new friends, manage emotions and take good decisions.

Cost is $153 for the five classes in the program. Advance registration is required. To reserve a space, call (313) 881-7511.
