erects playscape at Maire Elementary

A brand-new playscape was installed at Maire Elementary School Aug. 19-21, part of a set of playground equipment purchased by the school’s PTO. Above, fourth-grade teacher Neal Gross uses an impact drill on the project. He was one of more than 70 Maire parents and teachers who volunteered over four days to install the playscape, including a 13-foot-tall climbing wall, a swing set, and several other pieces of free-standing equipment. Twin siblings Isabelle and Bennet Sakelaris earned perfect scores on this year's National Latin Exam.

achieve perfection on Latin exam

Among the honorees of this year's National Latin Exam, introductory level, were two rare perfect scores. They were achieved by seventh-grade twins Isabelle and Bennet Sakelaris of Grosse Pointe Farms, the children of Page Heenan and James Sakelaris, and grandchildren of Palmer Heenan, mayor of the Park. read more...

The end, and a new beginning

Commencement exercises were held this week, and graduates of both Grosse Pointe high schools celebrated with parties and the traditional mortar board toss. Proud Grosse Pointe North father and Woods resident Lou Peeples captured the moment Wednesday (June 16) when his daughter, Emily Peeples, collected her diploma with the rest of the class.
