"Humor Me" opens with preview at Grosse Pointe Art Center
The Grosse Pointe Art Center will hold a preview party for its juried "Humor Me" show Friday (June 25) from 7 to 9 p.m. at the center, 16900 Kercheval, in the Village.
"Humor Me" is an all-media exhibit. The juror is Russell Taylor, aka Satori Circus, a performance artist. The show's artists will be in attendance, refreshments are free, and the center's gallery shop will be open. For more information, call 313-821-1848 or visit the Art Center online.

Grosse Pointe Historical Society sets 'La Fête d’Eté' at the Schoeniths
The public will get a rare chance to visit one of the Pointes' most beautiful homes later this month when Tom and Diane Schoenith host the Grosse Pointe Historical Society’s annual summer fundraiser.
“We haven’t opened our house to the public for 30 years, and we’ve been here for about 35 years. We mostly entertain at the Roostertail,” Tom Schoenith said. The couple own that Detroit riverfront institution.
This summer, however, the Schoeniths will be hosts of La Fête d’Eté – "the summer party" – set for June 24 at 7 p.m. in their French-inspired manor home on Lakeland Road in the City.

War Memorial plans two events for Alger House's centennial

Junior League selects designers for Show House to open May 1
A few new designers along with many Show House veterans have begun work transforming the French Normandy house at 78 Lake Shore for the Junior League of Detroit's biennial fundraiser. Built in 1928, the 6,500-square-foot home includes five bedrooms, five full and three half baths and two outdoor terraces. Nearly every room in the house will be redone, from the living and dining rooms to hallways and closets.
